What is Ordinance and Law Coverage?

What is Ordinance and Law Coverage?
Local building codes are constantly changing.  Houses in total compliance just a few years ago may no longer meet their community’s current building code requirements.  In fact homes built five or more years ago may not comply with today’s laws and ordinances.  Lack of compliance, although unintentional, could be personally costly following a major loss to your home.  Standard, unendorsed homeowners’ policies provide only a limited amount of coverage to pay for any additional cost caused by the building inspector’s insistence that your entire home be brought into full compliance with local building codes following a loss.

Your homeowners’ policy provides 10% of your current limit under Section A-Dwelling Coverage.  An additional limit is available by the endorsement.

We feel you need to be aware of your policy’s current Ordinance and Law limits.  You also need to know there is a way to fill the gap and protect yourself from a potentially devastating out-of-pocket expense.  For more information, please call our office.
